I only
had a handful Diploma fights for BK 72 but the now shut down suburban
Club (Hammarkullen/Angered) got me started off as a youngster. I
remember that the gym was located above a Swimming Hall and we shared
the facilities with some other sort of sports. Was it aerobics? Well I
am not really sure but something really “sissy-type” like it, that
I remember. The whole gym was more of gymnastics hall really and we only
had a temporary, almost portable ring that was set up each and every
time that we had training sessions. Interestingly this club harboured
The Angered fighters before they broke away and formed that successful
Youth Club in 1984 or 83 if I remember correctly. Angered’s BC was in
full activity when I started though. I actually fought a couple of ABC
fighters as you can see under my career record. |

Redbergslids BK really don’t need any further presentation; it’s the
home of champions. Former World heavyweight champion, Ingemar
Johansson’s club and the planting-school of several national
champions and international medallists over the years! It was here
that I learned and developed my skills. I came to the club in the
fall of 1985 as an eager youngster willing and definitely highly
motivated to boost my career. When I trained at the club during the
eighties, Shadrach Odhiambo, Lotfi Ayed, Björn Vasén, Jack Johnsen,
Larry Moritz, Mikael Lindblad and Peter Jaako among others spiced up
the atmosphere in the gym, along with some cool squads from the
States on temporary visits while fighting over here. It was truly
inspiring to walk among the great fighters that constantly came and
went. I really felt privileged to have been able to represent this
prestigious club that has been such an important institution in
Swedish boxing history. |
