Johan Ågren |
|
Skilful boxer with great technique!
Ågren went on to win the National youth title
himself a year after we met. He also won the junior
national title. Boxed at the World junior
championship and the European ditto! He was elected
Junior of the year by the Swedish boxing federation
in 1990 and also later fought in the Swedish senior
national team.
Ågren is definitely one of the best boxer I have
ever met and defeated. |

Tony Fortes Santos |
|
Brawling type boxer who very much moulded his style
after Mike Tyson, even sported a similar hair cut
for a while. Tony wasn’t at all bad. In fact
somewhat of a crowd pleaser! A steady member of the
junior national team in the eighties, Swedish junior
national champion, boxed in the Swedish senior team
as well and came up silver medallist at the Swedish
senior championship in 1988 behind Olympic bronze
medallist, Lars Myrberg. |

Per Malmsten |
|
Very hard punching boxer, mostly famous for being
the one who delivered the fatal punch that
unfortunately killed fellow Swede Arthur Hendler in
1989. Malmsten carried as said a wicked punch, and
managed to bring home a junior national title as
best merit. He later also fought in the Swedish
senior national squad against the USA and did in
fact take on Olympic champ David Reid at one of
those. That bout ended in disastrous fashion for
Malmsten though who was brutally knocked out. |

Vesa Kousko |
|
A typichal Finn! Very determined with decent skills
and a fairly good punch! Vesa always in top physical
condition, often broke down the spirits of his
opponents with avoiding punches and counter well.
Kuosko took home the Swedish Senior national title
at featherweight fairly late in his career after
many tries and was rewarded by a spot on the
national squad that went to the World championships
in Tampere, Finland in the early nineties. I
remember he came from a career in Thaiboxing and
hadn't participated in too many fights when we met. |

Patrik Westlund |
|
Very hard punching guy! One year older than me,
caught me really bad with a great punch at the
Swedish youth final in 1987. He won that title
naturally and competed once or twice with the
Swedish Youth Squad and then totally “disappeared “
. He was limited but ferociously strong. Didn’t lack
natural ability of course and was clearly talented.
He was never heard of afterwards though boxing wise.
A friend told me, and I don’t know if this is true
or not, that he joined the French legion (army),
only to desert the same pretty instantly. Quite a
story! |
